Seney Point Resort

I am honored to share the rich history of Seney Point Resort, steeped in the legacy of the Seney family’s long dedication to Lake DeSmet. The resort’s evolution from a humble fishing camp to a renowned lakefront haven is a testament to the Seney Family’s vision and passion for the Wyoming outdoors.

Our story begins in the early 1900s when my Great Grandfather and early Wyoming pioneer, Ralph Seney, first established this fishing haven on the tranquil shores of Lake DeSmet. Through his unwavering commitment, the camp flourished, eventually blossoming into a beautiful family-owned lakefront resort. In 1934, Ralph’s sons, Frank and Fred, the indomitable “Seney Twins” assumed stewardship of the property, breathing new life into it and etching it into the annals of legendary Wyoming fishing resorts.

Frank Seney, a name synonymous with angling prowess, often playfully boasted of being the “World’s Greatest” fly fisherman, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.

Their vibrant history at the helm of Seney Point Resort is adorned with memories of hosting luminaries from Hollywood’s golden era, including the likes of Robert Taylor, Gabby Hayes and many other silver screen icons. This storied past also saw the twins gracing the covers of prestigious publications such as “Field & Stream” and making headlines in national newspapers, solidifying their well-deserved “Claim to Fame.”

With the same spirit of hospitality and love for the outdoors that first inspired Ralph Seney, we invite you to experience the enduring story of Seney Point Resort.

By Kevin Seney

In the recesses of my memories lies the tranquil memories of Seney Point Resort. Its whispers still echo in my ears, the gentle lapping of the lake’s waters, the rustle of leaves in the Wyoming breeze. Seney Point was more than a fishing resort; it was a family sanctuary, a tapestry woven with threads of family history and boundless adventures.

My great grandfather, Ralph Seney, carved out a legacy when he introduced the first airplane to Wyoming in the roaring twenties. The skies were his canvas, and he painted them with dreams and ambitions that stretched beyond horizons.

Frank and Fred, the indomitable twins, stewards of the resort, etched their own chapters in the Seney saga. They navigated the wilderness with the spirit of pioneers, taming the rugged terrain, and welcoming guests from every corner of the world.

Following the legacy of their father, Frank & Fred soon became pilots and built an airport at Seney Point Resort. First in their Piper Cub, the Wyoming work horse aircraft known as a “sky pony,” and later in their much more capable, Cessna 210, they made flying a cornerstone of their lives thus fortifying the image of the resort as the “Fly in” fishing resort of The West. Celebrities mingled with fishermen, and the resort’s runway witnessed the arrival of dreams and departures of unforgettable memories.

This Eden, nestled in the heart of Wyoming, was my summer playground, a backdrop to the adventures that would shape my childhood. The wild expanse, teeming with life, became the canvas of my youth. Summers spent with grandparents, under their watchful eye, they kept our heads down and wary of rattle snakes. Busy all day with both work and play, we spent our summers at the lake. The experiences sculpted my youthful spirit, imbuing me with a reverence for nature and a love for the untamed.

The Calling of the Skies

By Kevin Seney

As the years spun their tales, a pivotal moment arrived – a call from the skies, beckoning me to the cockpit. The legacy of flight, woven into the Seney tapestry, called out, urging me to heed its siren song. Out of the Wyoming sky, a 4th Generation Seney Pilot was born.

With each flight, I felt the resonance of generations before me, a kinship with my great grandfather, Ralph, and the Seney Twins, Frank and Fred. My Piper Saratoga was a vessel of dreams, and became my conduit to the boundless heavens. My young daughters Alicia and Jessica, spent their summers and weekends flying with dad.

A paradox emerged in the heavens: the simultaneous feeling of freedom and responsibility. It was a reminder that the sky, though limitless, demanded respect. Every ascent was a dance between trust and caution, a symphony of calculated risks and measured decisions.

In the cockpit, I discovered a sanctuary, a space where time yielded to the cadence of flight. The skies became my canvas, painted with the hues of sunrise and sunset, each stroke a testament to the impermanence of moments.

The dance with the elements, the pulse of the plane beneath my fingertips, whispered secrets of existence. It was here, amidst the clouds and constellations, that I learned to let go – to relinquish control and trust in the flow of life.

Embracing Change

Life, I found, is a series of arrivals and departures, each a chapter in the ever-evolving story of our existence. With Seney Point Resort, the saga of transitions unfurled, a testament to the resilience of family bonds and the inevitability of change.

With the passing of seasons, the resort transformed, a chameleon adapting to the shifting landscape. The laughter of children echoed at the swimming pool, mingling with the stories etched in its timeworn walls. Seney Point became a living, breathing entity, a witness to the ebb and flow of life.

In the realm of career, I navigated uncharted territories, charting my course through the realm of start-ups and ventures. From Real Estate Franchise Development to the transformation of Seney Drug Company into what is now Genoceutical, Inc., each chapter was a crucible of learning and growth.

Through mergers and milestones, I stepped into the role of CEO, a steward of innovation and progress. Genoceutical, Inc., an embodiment of transformative skincare, emerged from the union of a Dermaceutical R&D company and our long-established family pharmaceutical expertise. It was a journey of negotiations, mergers, and strategic alliances, each step a testament to the power of vision and collaboration.

And now, on the horizon, a new venture blossoms: Genoceutical, Inc. has recently acquired Naturceutical Organics, Inc. and will begin to produce All Natural Skincare & Cosmetics in Bali Indonesia to be distributed in the United States, Europe and the Middle East beginning in the Spring of 2024. It is a chapter yet to be written, a testament to the evergreen spirit of innovation and reinvention.

“Every step taken in mindfulness brings us one step closer to healing ourselves and the planet.”

~Thich Nhat Hanh, renowned Buddhist monk

The quote from the eminent Buddhist monk serves as a reminder that we need to heal ourselves first to be able to contribute to the longevity of the Earth. We are not alone in this, though, as the current consumer base is growing more environmentally and ethically conscious than ever.

The Dance of Transformation

In the corridors of life, the echoes of wisdom resound. A simple book The Four Agreements by  Don Miguel Ruiz , was a beacon of light for me and it guided my path. With impeccable words, I discovered the alchemy of authenticity. I learned to untangle the threads of personalization, to release the weight of assumptions, and to embrace the mantra of always doing my best.

Through trials and triumphs, I learned that the key to immortality is to first live a life worth remembering. It’s a lesson etched in the sands of time, a reminder that our legacy transcends the boundaries of mortality.

And so, the journey continues, an ever-evolving tapestry of moments and memories. With each step, each flight, and each venture, I embrace the transformative power of change. It’s a dance with the unknown, a melody of existence that resonates with the heartbeat of life.
